Council adopts two ordinances, approves eight resolutions

misc · Meeting of March 24, 2026

NJ WESTVILLE — Westville Council approves ordinances, appoints IT professional and special officer. The borough council voted unanimously to adopt Ordinance 1-2026 amending land use regulations for the I-4 Light Industrial District and Ordinance 2-2026 authorizing property acquisition by negotiation or eminent domain, and introduced the 2026 Salary Ordinance for public hearing. Eight resolutions passed by consent, including appointments of JHarte Associates, LLC as Information Technology professional and Shamus Ellis as a Class II Special Law Enforcement Officer, and authorization for final payment on a USDA-funded police SUV purchase.

The council also unanimously scheduled fireworks for 2026, marking the nation's 250th anniversary, with the Borough of Brooklawn covering half expenses, and declined requests from the Westville Stars and NABA baseball clubs to use the Park Avenue field, citing disrepair and redevelopment-area status.
